**Company Overview**:
Our client, an ASX-listed mineral exploration company with projects spanning Australia is currently searching for a GIS/Database Geologist to join the Adelaide office.
**Position Overview**:
As a GIS/Database Geologist, you will play a crucial role by providing expertise in geographic information systems (GIS) and database management. Your primary responsibility will be to support the geological and geospatial data needs of the companies exploration projects. You will work closely with the exploration team to ensure the efficient organisation, analysis, and interpretation of geological data, as well as the effective utilisation of GIS tools and databases.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- GIS Data Management: Manage and maintain geospatial data, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and quality.
- Database Management: Design, develop, and maintain geodatabases to store, query, and retrieve geological and geospatial data.
- Data Integration: Integrate geological, geochemical, and geophysical data into GIS systems for analysis and interpretation. Generate high-quality maps, reports, and visualisations to support exploration activities and decision-making processes.
- Spatial Analysis: Perform spatial analysis and modelling to identify and prioritise prospective mineral targets. Utilise GIS tools to conduct geostatistical analysis, generate spatial relationships, and develop predictive models.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with geologists, exploration teams, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver geospatial solutions. Effectively communicate geospatial analysis results to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support and training to team members on GIS software, database management, and data analysis techniques. Stay updated with the latest advancements in GIS technology and recommend improvements to enhance exploration workflows.
- Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Adhere to company policies and procedures related to health, safety, and environmental standards. Promote a culture of safety and responsible data management practices.
**Qualifications and Requirements**:
- Bachelors Degree in Geoscience discipline.
- Strong experience in using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for geospatial data management and analysis.
- Proficiency in database management systems and data manipulation.
- Familiarity with geological databases and understanding of geological terminology.
- Knowledge of spatial analysis techniques, including geostatistics, interpolation, and raster analysis.
- Experience in the Australian mineral exploration industry.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise work in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, and environmental practices.
