**About the role**

Are you ready to take the next step in your scientific career and make a meaningful impact in the field of microbiology and infectious disease diagnostics? As a Medical Scientist (MeS-1), you will play a key role in performing routine and specialised tests on a variety of specimens of public health significance. This exciting position offers the opportunity to develop a specialty focus in pathogen genomics, public health, and epidemiology. Working under supervision, you will contribute to problem-solving, planning, execution, and reporting, while also helping to drive the development and adoption of innovative techniques and methodologies.

**About You**

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional with the skills and experience to thrive in a diagnostic microbiology laboratory environment. To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- **Technical Proficiency**: Strong scientific and technical skills to perform laboratory tests and operate analytical equipment with mínimal supervision, alongside experience in laboratory computing, data retrieval, and processing.
- **Organisational and Problem-Solving Skills**: Proven ability to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks, troubleshoot laboratory equipment, and develop practical solutions while adhering to high-quality standards and meeting workload targets.
- **Teamwork and Communication**: Exceptional ability to collaborate in a team environment and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders through both oral and written communication, while delivering outstanding customer service.
- **Knowledge and Commitment**: A sound understanding of microbiology, infectious diseases, and pathology principles, coupled with a commitment to maintaining professional standards, handling sensitive information responsibly, and working with human body fluids, tissues, and faeces in a diagnostic setting.
