**About the Role**

We are inviting expressions of interest from qualified and experienced academic and/or professionals in Social Work to join our professional, tight-knit team as the Field Education Coordinator. Based in Parramatta, we offer flexible employment arrangements, with opportunities available for full-time, part-time, and sessional engagements.

**Position Summary**

The Field Education Coordinator for the Master of Social Work (Qualifying) at Southern Cross Institute (SCI) is responsible for overseeing the field education component within the course. This position plays a vital role in facilitating students' practical experiences, ensuring alignment with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) standards and guidelines as well as ASWEAS requirements. The Coordinator collaborates with staff, field supervisors, and community partners to provide meaningful field placements for students. Additionally, they contribute to the ongoing development and evaluation of the field education to maintain its effectiveness and relevance.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop and review field education curriculum in accordance with AASW accreditation standards.
- Ensure all placements meet ASWEAS requirements for student learning outcomes.
- Ensure integration of field education with theoretical coursework to promote holistic student learning.
- Monitor and assess field placements to ensure compliance with AASW requirements and course objectives.
- Collaborate with field placement agencies to secure appropriate field placement that provide diverse learning experience to student and academic staff to match students with appropriate field education placements that align with their learning objectives, interests, and AASW requirements.
- The Field Education Coordinator is responsible to SCI for the allocation of results for the placements.
- Prior to the commencement of placement, the Field Education Coordinator will provide an induction for students on placement requirements.
- Provide guidance to students in selecting suitable field placements based on their learning goals and interests.
- Offer ongoing support and supervision to students during their field education experience.
- Address any challenges or concerns that arise during field placements, offering solutions and resources as needed.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with field agencies and community partners to secure high-quality field placements.
- Collaborate with field supervisors to provide training and support, ensuring they understand course expectations and AASW standards.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive environment among stakeholders, including students, staff, field education liaison officer and supervisors.
- Implement mechanisms for ongoing evaluation of the field education, gathering feedback from students, supervisors, and stakeholders.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in social work field education, incorporating new ideas to enhance field education quality.
- Ensure compliance with AASW accreditation standards and guidelines, maintaining documentation and records as required.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to prepare for AASW accreditation reviews and assessments.
- Keep abreast of any changes or updates to AASW standards and adjust course practices accordingly.

**Selection Criteria**

**Essential**
- Higher degree in Social Work.
- Must be eligible for membership with AASW.
- Minimum of 5 years fulltime post-qualifying experience in the field of social work.
- Demonstrated understanding of AASW accreditation standards and guidelines for social work education.
- Demonstrated understanding of ASWEAS standards and guidelines for social work education and placements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly in managing course documentation and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to provide guidance and support to students in selecting and navigating field placements.
