OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- The PUD Supervisor is responsible for the Performance of Toll drivers, subcontractors and outside hire drivers that work within their zone at Melbourne Airport. Performance means the Quantity (Productivity) and Quality of the work performed by each driver. PUD Supervisor has to ensure that drivers under their control operate in accordance with all Toll Safety requirements and standards. The PUD Supervisor has responsibility to have freight that is under their control delivered and picked up in the most cost efficient manner whilst meeting all expectations of the customer.
- The PUD Supervisor is responsible for forward planning on a daily, weekly and seasonal basis to ensure that resources meet customer demand.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety:
- Daily pre shift tiered debrief meeting with all drivers- Safety Message, Toolboxes, D & A Testing- Telematics- TRAC - Incident Management System - entry and investigation of all incidents involving drivers- Ensuring that your allocated depot area and the depot in general is maintained in a safe, clean and tidy state.- Constantly work to promote safe work practices and safe working environments.
Quality:
- Ensure that drivers scan on board and obtain clear proof of delivery for all consignments taken out for delivery from Melbourne Airport each day. Ensure that all drivers scan consignments at point of pick up for return to Melbourne Airport for processing.- Exception scanning of all consignments still in the zone by 12 noon each day- Ensure that all drivers present for work each day clean, neat and tidy in their Toll uniform.- Ensure that all drivers keep their vehicle clean and tidy both inside and out, maintaining regular audits for compliance.- Customer Surveys completed on driver feedback and performance.
Cost:
- The PUD Supervisor is accountable for the cost effective use of the resources under his/her control. This means that the number of hours that drivers work is to be monitored and controlled to ensure that work is performed in compliance with Toll responsibilities under Chain of Responsibility legislation.- Measure driver productivity DAILY - time leaving and arriving back at depot, stops/deliveries and pick-ups on road, undelivered and unattempted freight, KPI’s measured and communicated with driver and group and displayed on boards.- Conduct regular reviews of drivers’ runs within your zone to maintain high levels of productivity.
Delivery:
- The PUD Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that each driver delivers the optimum number of items each day whilst allowing sufficient time for the driver to pick up from customers at their agreed times within each drivers run.- The PUD Supervisor will conduct regular route rides with drivers and will utilise route optimisation tools to achieve maximum efficiency with the resources under their control.- The PUD Supervisor will ensure that each driver’s load is evaluated and meets productivity expectations prior to the driver departing the depot each morning.- Effective resource planning in line with volume expectations, leave requirements and planned and unplanned absenteeism.
People:
- The PUD Supervisor will maintain a training matrix for drivers under their control.- The PUD Supervisor will monitor and manage drivers’ absenteeism. The PUD Supervisor will plan leave for his/her drivers to ensure that all due leave is taken in a controlled manner so that resources are in place to match customer demand.- The PUD Supervisor will participate in Customer Service training and Continuous Improvement training to improve their skills and to contribute to Toll;s goal of achieving Operational Excellence.
- OH&S RESPONSIBILITIES
Safe and Healthy Workplace- Ensure that the Toll OHS Policy is available and its provisions are implemented as per the policy- Comply with legislative WHS requirements- Comply with emergency preparedness has been identified, documented and implemented- Work in accordance with the established OHS procedures and practices of the business- Comply with safe work procedures for identified high risk tasks
Communication and Consultation- Participate in OHS consultations in accordance with legislative and business requirements- Understand your OHS responsibilities- Ensure that relevant OHS reports and audits are communicated within the business and that employees have access to other relevant OHS documentation
Training, Inspections and Audits- Complete appropriate induction and are competent to undertake tasks- Ensure you are appropriately skilled, trained, competent and, where required, hold the necessary licenses for the safe and efficient operation and use of plant, equipment and substances
Financial
Monitor and report labour variance and ensure they are aligned to budgets
Overtime controls and leave balances appropriately monitored and maintained
Inspections and Audits- Be actively involved with OHS audits and any corrective actions
