**About the role**:
We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients through the Towards Zero Suicides Initiative which consists of working in our **Safe Haven** and **Suicide Prevention Outreach Team**.

**The Safe Haven **is a suicide prevention service with the aim to provide people who are experiencing a suicidal crisis an alternative to presenting to the emergency department. It is a non-clinical space where guests of the service can receive best practice crisis care and be supported to link into other appropriate services. Guests of the Safe Haven receive crisis care and support by a team of Lived Experience Peer Workers and a Mental Health Clinician. Shift work is a requirement of the position.

**The Suicide Prevention Outreach team** is comprised of mental health clinicians and peer workers, working collaboratively to provide care and support to consumers who have experienced a suicidal crisis or event. Consumers will receive peer-led care with a focus on recovery and continued support in the community for a period of up to 6 weeks. Support provided will be underpinned by least restrictive and trauma informed care practices

We are seeking a skilled and energetic Social Worker who possess a passion for person centred care in the suicide prevention space with the following attributes.Work alongside Lived Experience Peer Workers in the preparation and delivery of best practice crisis care and suicide prevention services to people experiencing a suicidal crisis.Support guests to link into other community services to address the underlying factors that are contributing to their distress.Deliver support that aligns with the principles of step up/step down care. This includes making connections to a range of community-based services for ongoing support if required (step down), or supporting people to determine if they require clinical intervention including emergency care and/or outreach teams for follow up (step up).Actively engage and collaborate with people with Lived Experience of suicidal crisisWork collaboratively with Lived Experience Peer Workers to provide specialist person centered and trauma informed care to guests who attend the service and link them into appropriate services.Provide access to a culturally safe, welcoming and non-clinical space for people of all ages experiencing suicidality.Establish and maintain positive working relationships and interagency collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders.Actively work to build the local communities resilience through a range of educational and suicide prevention initiatives with the aim to reduce the suicide rate in the local community.Maintain current knowledge and skills related to mental health practice including suicide prevention interventions and crisis interventions through ongoing professional development, education, training and clinical supervision.Ensure the implementation of hospital/health network policy and procedures; the dissemination of information and ensure a safe environment for staff and guests.

2. Social Worker, Level 1-2 and eligibility for membership with the AASW with 2 years experience working within a mental health setting.

3. Commitment to the principals and values of the lived experience of suicide workforce. And peer led and co-designed service development.
