Teen & Family Counsellor

This an exciting opportunity to join the Discovery Family Therapy team as a family counsellor.
We are seeking an experienced counsellor to join us in the Applecross Therapy room 3 days a week. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients from 5 years and up. We are an incredibly supportive team with a diverse range of experience.

Our therapists work with families systems integrating support for parents and children together. We offer play therapy, teen counselling and parent counselling ensuring the whole family is supported.

Not only do we work with a range of ages, but we also assist NDIS participants with counselling therapy.

**What a typical day may look like**:
You may have sessions with children who have been diagnosed with ASD, ADHD, selective mutism or struggling family separation etc. You would work with your young client assisting them with their goals integrating age appropriate play therapy techniques. Periodically, you would have a parent session, creating supportive strategies that can used at home.

Your next client may be a family working through family conflict and require joint sessions.

After lunch you may be working with a teen and their parents building safety plans.

Or you may work with an adult who is struggling to come to terms with loss or family conflict.

**About you**:
We are looking for an individual who has at least 2 year experience in family counselling.
This individual should also have the following:

- At least 2 year of one-on-one counselling experience
- Experience in Family Counselling
- Qualifications in Play Therapy
- Right to work in Australia.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Completion of NDIS modules. (NDIS commission website)
- Full Covid vaccination status.
- Registration with an Australian counselling or psychology body
