The role The role involves ensuring the adherence to established service quality standards and health and safety protocols, contributing to the delivery of high-quality and secure services. As a project leader, the position requires effective management of projects using Queensland Health project methodologies to guarantee timely and high-quality project outcomes. Building partnerships is crucial, involving liaison with internal and external stakeholders, such as the Department of Health, Hospital and Health Services, government departments, professional groups, consumers, and community organizations. Providing expert advice to stakeholders and senior management on issues aligned with national and State policy, with a focus on the lived experience of mental health, alcohol, and other drug healthcare delivery, as well as digital health and transformation, is a key aspect of the role.
Furthermore, the role requires the establishment and maintenance of networks with various stakeholders, including state-funded services, non-government organizations, individuals with lived experience of mental health, alcohol, and other drug issues, and their families. To achieve this, alignment, promotion, and collaboration within established guidelines and frameworks relevant to lived experience engagement in mental health, alcohol, and other drug contexts, as well as national and state-wide digital health initiatives, are essential components of the role.
As per the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, the incumbent must be a person with lived experience of mental illness, substance use disorder, or mental health crises, MHAOD service use, and recovery. The position mandates a requirement for the employee to have personal experience with mental illness, substance use disorder, or mental health crisis, MHAOD service utilization, and recovery, specifically to inform policy and project development.

The role of the Clinical Excellence Queensland is to drive the patient safety, quality improvement and clinical improvement agendas for the Queensland health system. It will achieve this by identifying, monitoring and promoting improvements in the quality of health services delivered by service providers (both Hospital and Health Services and private health facilities, globally and within Queensland), and support and facilitate the dissemination of best-practice clinical standards and processes that achieve better outcomes for patients.
