Why this role matters
We have exciting opportunities for values-driven and motivated Harm Reduction Practitioners to be part of our AOD - Harm Reduction and Health Service in the City of Yarra. This service supports people presenting as intoxicated / providing health supports to people that present as intoxicated/assessing and monitoring the health of people that present as intoxicated.
You will successfully
- Provide a safe and caring environment in which intoxicated persons can sober up as an alternative to Police custody in which a person’s behaviour poses a risk to themselves or others in the community.
- Provide and facilitate access for the person to appropriate alcohol and other drug treatment options and support services when the person is sober
- Provide on call outreach services to people in the community who have been identified as intoxicated and in need of monitoring
We have both part time and casual positions available.
Positions are fixed term for 12 months with possible extension depending on funding arrangements. Part time positions require availability of minimum of 2 shifts per week.
You will be part of a rotating roster, with shifts on Friday (4pm - 1am, 12am - 9am) Saturday and Sunday (8am - 5pm, 4pm - 1am, 12am - 9am) we are then closed Monday - Thursday and reopen Friday night.
Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award, Level 5.

What we’re looking for
- Minimum Diploma of community services or related field, people currently working towards a health-related bachelor qualification will be highly desired
- Excellent organisation and administrative skills with capacity to balance workload and determine priorities while also addressing the needs of a high volume, often crisis orientated environment
- Strong verbal and communication skills
- A current VIC Drivers Licence
- Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
