We have an immediate opportunity available for a Facilities Operations Officer with a current Builders Registration qualification to join our clients team in Belmont for a 5 month contract.
You will assist the Coordinator Building & Facilities Operations in the effective and efficient supervision of contractors and supervise minor capital works projects as required, to ensure Building Assets are maintained in accordance with the Asset Management Plan and that organisational and customer outcomes are achieved.
**Your focus will be in the provision of the following**:
- Supervise and review maintenance work on building assets to ensure organisational and contractual targets and standards are being achieved and take appropriate remedial action if required
- Review and monitor programmed maintenance activities, to ensure that the day to day tasks are undertaken when programmed and to the standard required
- Carry out minor maintenance duties in order to restore and maintain the standard of buildings and assets, as required
- Carry out inspection of buildings whilst in attendance, to ensure no faults or maintenance matters are outstanding and report any issues to Coordinator Building & Facilities Operations
- Carry out programmed maintenance activities, including incidental street sign and parking sign maintenance, as required
- Organise quotations and arrange for sub-contractors to carry out specific maintenance work and arrange access to Council facilities as necessary
- Monitor and review as required, contractor management procedures and ensure contractors fulfil their obligations in this area
- Monitor compliance by contractors through regular inspections and audits to ensure Contract Guidelines and Specifications are being met and performance targets are being achieved, dealing with minor breaches and referring major issues to the Coordinator Building & Facilities Operations.
- Procure materials to complete requested work and authorise payments of invoices as authorised under the ‘Authorised Requisition List’ and ensure budget expenditure is continually monitored and reviewed to achieve agreed targets
**What you will need to succeed**:
- Previous relevant experience within the building industry and in particular, building maintenance
- Good organisational and administrative skills, with a proven ability to effectively priorities tasks to achieve strict deadlines
- Previous exposure to project management within the building sector
- Good knowledge and understanding of the Work Health and Safety requirements
- Good interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people and groups, to ensure delivery of a high level of customer service
- Office suite of products (i.e. Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat Writer, Outlook)
- Proven knowledge of applicable Acts and Regulations relevant to Buildings
- Possession of a current motor vehicle driver’s licence
- Possession of, or the ability to acquire, a satisfactory National Police Clearance Certificate (dated within the last twelve months)
**Qualifications**
- Possession of a current qualification in Builders Registration, Building Supervision or Building Construction, or recognised equivalent is essential
- Current White Card desired
- Current Working at Heights certification
**Additional Information**
This role is a 5 month contract, working a 76 hour fortnight, with a great hourly rate
