This is a non-ongoing opportunity with an expected completion date of 30 June 2026. This position will provide the successful applicant with the opportunity to develop knowledge and expertise in Senate practice and procedure across a broad range of the Senate’s functions.
The Table Officer (Programming) provides administrative and procedural support to the Senate to facilitate chamber proceedings. This includes preparing various documents including the Senate Order of Business (the ‘Red’) and monitoring events in the Senate and updating captions for the in-house broadcast system as the Senate moves through its business.
Other responsibilities include preparing the roster of temporary chairs, and preparing meeting papers and reports for the Selection of Bills Committee. The Table Officer (Programming) is also a key point of contact for senators and their staff seeking support from the Clerk Assistant (Table) and the Table Office generally. The occupant of this position also provides support to the Senators’ Interests Committee, including by maintaining the Register of Senators’ Interests.
The occupant of this position must work to consistently high-standards, under general supervision, demonstrating attention to detail and managing competing priorities in a time pressured environment.
Table Officers (APS 4) support the broader Table Office team with a range of functions relating to chamber proceedings. Table Officers may assist with the processing of legislation and documents, attend to general inquiries, provide committee support and assist with records management functions. Occupants of these positions can expect to work across these areas where opportunities arise.
