Rearing Farm Assistant Manager

**About the Role**
This assistant management position does not come up often
You will be an integral part of a small, effective & multi-cultural team, working side-by-side with an experienced Farm Manager to oversee and coordinate the daily operations at the Laidley Rearing Farm.
As the Rearing Farm Assistant Manager (2IC), you will be a strong support to the Farm Manager with the operation of a 6-shed modern Rearing production farm in Laidley. This is a development role for future Farm Managers.
The position reports directly to the Farm Manager.
The poultry industry has very strict bio-security and animal welfare standards, so all
employees are restricted from keeping pet birds, poultry and pigs and residing with
others who work at other poultry or involved with pig farming/hunting. The farm is
a shower-on, shower-off facility.
**Duties**
- Assist the Farm Manager in the co-ordination of all farm activities for the achievement of short and long-term business objectives.
- Ensure all tasks are undertaken in a safe manner.
- Assist the Farm Manager to ensure appropriately trained staff are available for specialist tasks, shed walks, fumigation etc.
- Under the direction of the Farm Manager, undertake serological monitoring and ensure that all medications are administered as required and in the appropriate manner.
- Ensure all farm administration duties are performed in accordance with Darwalla guidelines, including the completion of all relevant reports and documentation within specific time requirements.
- Assist the Farm Manager to engage and lead a team of people.
**Skills & Experience**
- Previous poultry industry experience is required, preferably in rearing
- Conversant with animal welfare standards, legislative obligations and Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures
- Self-motivated to work independently and to manage multiple tasks
- A team player who is willing to learn to engage, manage and direct staff
- Strive to meet industry “best practice” standards
- Decision making and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Computer skills
