The Birth Centre is well regarded by clients and health care providers for its high standard of clinical care and professional support for low to high risk women requiring intrapartum care. The Birth Centre cares for approximately 7,500 women a year.

**Your contribution**

This senior position at The Women’s, a baby friendly Health Initiative accredited hospital, is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership in the Birth Centre. The management position is responsible for co-ordinating the activity of the Birth Centre including the Assessment Centre, the standard of care provided to women and the flow of patients in the birth centre. This position is within Maternity services and liaises with all areas in the hospital.

Your duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:

- Having overall responsibility for management of all aspects of the Birth Centre: clinical care, patient flow, professional support, education and research, human resources, support and uphold the different and evolving models of care offered to women and cost centre budgets.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and management of the Birth Centre team ensuring a positive and professional working environment and is a role model in delivering high quality care and support to women and their families within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Work closely and in collaboration with the Medical Director of the Birth Centre, Clinical Midwife Consultant and the Birth Centre Educator.

**About you**

To be successful within this role you will need to have:

- AHPRA Registered Midwife
- Fetal Surveillance Education Program (FSEP) with a level 3 practitioner level achieved
- Significant and demonstrate clinical experience as a senior midwife in a birthing environment
- Previous management experience at a senior level
- Experience is providing clear direction and energetic leadership within a busy birthing environment
- High level communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels
Management or leadership qualification (completed or in progress) - (Desirable)
- Tertiary level qualifications in health care (Desirable)

**Influenza Vaccination Requirement**

In line with the Health Services Amendment (Mandatory Vaccination of Healthcare Workers) Act 2020, some health care workers are now required to have their flu vaccination to work in health care. Evidence of vaccination is required.

As this role fits into category A or B of the departments risk ratings, applicants will be required to have been vaccinated against influenza. Evidence of vaccination is required.
