**About the role**
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Health Information Manager to join the Eastern Health Coding Management Team. This position will be responsible for the management of the Box Hill Hospital coding team and for the overall management and strategic direction of the Data Management Portfolio in relation to coded data. Responsibilities include the development and co-ordination of all internal and external coding related data regulations and reporting. Clinical coding, training and auditing responsibilities will be a component of this role as will be supporting other coding managerial roles.

**Responsibilities include**:
Management of the Box Hill Classification and Coding service including:
- Supervision of clinical coding and HIM staff including monitoring of absences, leave and staff rostering and performance
- Training of Clinical Coding and HIM staff
- Coding, abstracting and computer input of coded patient data
- Education of coders, ensuring all are up to date with current standards and coding information
Portfolio specific:
- Ensure EH complies with all VAED internal and external rules and reporting requirements
- Assist Data Analytics and Insight Service team with the provision of research requests through providing accurate ICD coding data.
- Co-ordination of coding-related data reporting processes across all EH sites to ensure compliance of all timeframes, including Victorian Cancer Registry submission.
- Maintain professional relationships to ensure EH Classification and Coding Service is compliant and updated on latest initiatives regarding rules and regulations including admissions policy and the National Funding Model
- Monitor and report non-compliance with DoH Hospital Admission policy to APD - Classification and Coding
- Regular liaison with Data Quality and Reporting Team
- Provide support and advice on administrative data quality when requested.
- Co-ordination of July 1 reporting requirements specific to coding across EH.
- Management of Classification and Coding SharePoint Online, including file organisation, naming conventions and retention periods
**About you**
Essential:
- Tertiary qualification in Health Information Management or equivalent
- Experience in Coding and Casemix data collection and analysis
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with hospital administration, medical staff, health care professionals, and other hospital employees
- Demonstrated ability to manage self and others in order to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated working knowledge of coding and casemix software and relevant resources e.g. AR-DRG manuals
- An open and collaborative approach to working with others
Desirable:
- Completion of studies in coding auditing or equivalent
- Experience in coding auditing
- Experience in training new team members
- Previous experience in a tertiary hospital setting
- A passion for bringing out the best in team members
- Previous staff management experience
