Fire Technician
Seeking either a fire technician who has handyman skills, or a handyman who can be trained as a fire technician in the Fire Protection Industry. This position is open to all ages, genders and backgrounds.
We are looking for a 'thinker and doer' to join our small friendly team. Someone who has a positive attitude towards customer service, takes pride in their workmanship, has a co-operative demeanour and most importantly, someone who is reliable, punctual and responsible.
You will be involved in building inspections, monthly testing (fire panels, sprinkler systems and pumps), carrying out repairs of doors and other fire measures.
You must be capable of working autonomously, but equally as important, is being able to work as part of a team on larger jobs. Familiarity with Simpro Mobile (app) would be useful, but not essential; if you have an understanding of how to navigate apps, you should be fine. Simpro feeds job information directly to your mobile, therefore, you must be able to accurately read, interpret and follow job description and notes to ensure all aspects of the job are completed, parts are assigned etc. Accurate record keeping (including photos) is critical in our industry and we rely on our staff to ensure this is upheld and saved on each job.
Our geographical area covers the whole of Sydney Metro and occasionally beyond.
**Requirements &/or Attributes**:
- Driver's Licence (points check will be required for insurance)
- Police / Working with Children Check (we can organise if you don't have one)
- Construction Industry White Card (we can organise if you don't have one)
- Ability to pass compliance Drug Testing [randomly administered]
- Ability to interpret & work off plans
- Ability to read and interpret job description/notes and relay all necessary information clearly back to office for quoting/job progress reports
- Ethical & Honest
- Reliable & Punctual
- Any trade qualifications would be a bonus
**Ideally**:
- Previous experience within the Fire industry, however training can be provided if you are open to learning about fire protection.
- Cert 2 or 3 in Fire Protection Inspection & Testing (or willingness to undertake this in the future)
- Skillset to be able to carry out repairs of certain fire equipment
- Knowledge of AS1851 inspect & test requirements and BCA (not essential)
Salary package is negotiable depending on the level of experience you can bring to the table. A fully maintained company vehicle, eTag, petrol card, mobile phone (if separate work phone desired) and uniform will be provided additionally to your negotiated wage, plus superannuation.
We will also consider part-time/semi-retired people, as long as you are able to commit to certain days/times in advance to allow for scheduling. Most of our work is carried out for strata, therefore once notices have been issued (minimum 3 weeks in advance), the job is locked in and we expect our technicians to turn up, because residents will be waiting.
If you feel you have the relevant experience and skillset, or would like to find out more about joining our friendly team, please send through your Resume today.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Expected hours: 20 - 37.5 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
Licence/Certification:
- White Card (preferred)
- Driver Licence (preferred)
