**About the Business Unit**:
Victim Services, Support and Reform (VSSR) is a part of the Service Delivery Reform, Coordination and Workplace Safety Division of the Department of Justice and Community Safety and is responsible for coordinating a suite of services for victims of crime including funding state-wide services to provide eligible victims with practical assistance, counselling and support through the justice system as well as operating the Victims of Crime Helpline (Helpline).

**About the Role**:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Victims of Crime Helpline, the role of the Victim Support Officer (VSO) is to provide informed and up-to-date advice, support and information about victim services and entitlements, and referrals to other services.

**Some of your duties will include**:

- Provide up-to-date advice on victim entitlements, support services and referral pathways to victims of crime and victims of family violence
- Convey information clearly and accurately, responding to clients, stakeholders, and team members in a professional, sensitive, respectful, and empathetic manner.

A VSO is required to work flexibly over shifts between 7am to 11pm across 7 days per week including weekends and public holidays.

- An understanding of the victim support service system and associated legislation
- Experience in direct human service delivery where there are sensitive and complex needs, working from a trauma-informed perspective
- The ability to give frank and honest feedback/advice and listen when ideas are challenged, seeks to understand the nature of criticism and respond constructively; displays confidence and conviction when communicating an opinion.

**Qualifications/Requirements**:

- A relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive equivalent experience is desirable.
