The role
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Health's core values, as outlined above. Assist the Clinical Director to manage the priorities of the Unit. Provide senior level input to the daily operations of Forensic Medicine Queensland, including the management of interpersonal interactions, processes and operational activities within the Unit and the wider Branch/Division. - Provide strategic, professional, and timely advice on key issues, priorities, and projects within the remit of Forensic Medicine Queensland. Provide high level written and verbal advice to the Department of Health on contentious and emergent issues. Maintain high level understanding of Forensic Medicine Queensland's programs of work and strategic priorities, and how they align to organisational and government priorities. Manage the flow of information and prioritise activities in an environment of tight deadlines and competing demands. Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with key departmental and external stakeholders. Lead and manage the administrative functions of the Forensic Medicine Queensland. Prepare high-level briefing documents, submissions and reports which align goals with broader organisational and government priorities. - Utilise highly effective interpersonal skills at all levels, including consultation and presentation skills and the ability to negotiate and influence to drive government and organisational objectives.
The successful personThe essential requirements for this role are: - Demonstrated experience in leading and managing complex initiatives on behalf of senior executives contributing to the realisation of organisational goals and objectives. - Proven high-level problem solving and issues management skills, and capacity to analyse and integrate information from diverse sources. Demonstrated consultative and communication skills to interact with officers on confidential and sensitive matters within a large, decentralised health service organisation. Demonstrated high level operational management skills and experience. Demonstrated experience in providing timely, accurate, responsive, and well organised briefings and general documentation, considering issues of sensitivity and confidentiality, to support the Unit. Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage staff in line with quality human resource management practices, including employment equity, workplace health and safety, anti-discrimination, and ethical behaviour. Demonstrated experience and interest in systems level health care improvement and ability to engage with stakeholders
- The ability to be agile and flexible, and manage multiple tasks while ensuring attention to detail - Previous experience working within the Hospitals and Health Services will be highly regarded
