**Your new role**

Reporting to the Chief Remote Pilot, the Specialist Pilot is a member of a team responsible for providing expertise to support frontline compliance and enforcement actions across the state. Working under the broad direction of the Chief Remote Pilot, you will manage and fly remote piloted aircraft (drones) to support inspections, investigations, communications and engagement activities and other uses, aligned to EPA’s strategic priorities to prevent harms to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste.

This is an exciting role for a licensed remote aircraft pilot that wants to contribute to the success of the EPA as it enters a new era of environmental protection in Victoria.

**What you’ll do**
- Working under the direction of the Chief Remote Pilot, deliver remotely piloted aircraft operations to provide high quality imagery outputs in an accurate, timely and safe manner.
- Actively contribute to the development of a positive and high performing team culture, including by identifying and implementing opportunities to improve teamwork practices.
- Support the Chief Remote Pilot in maintaining all documentation required for EPA to maintain its Remote Operator Certificate issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), including the Operations Manual and Operations Library.
- Support the Chief Remote Pilot in obtaining all required registrations, authorisations, approvals, and exemptions for remotely piloted aircraft operations, conducting pre-flight planning, job safety and risk assessments and record keeping.
- Support liaison with CASA and other regulatory authorities as required.

**We are looking for an experienced specialist pilot with**:

- A Remote Pilot Licence approved by CASA for the operations of remotely piloted aircraft in regulatory operations undertaken by EPA.
- Experience in the operation of remotely piloted aircraft, preferably in a law enforcement or regulatory environment.
- A detailed understanding of CASA regulations relating to the use of remote piloted aircraft.
- Knowledge and understanding of Victoria’s environmental protection laws.
- A broad understanding of environmental regulation as it relates to pollution and waste is desirable.
- A relevant tertiary degree or qualifications is desirable.
