**Job Description**:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be responsible for the quality of the services assigned by the Director of Operations Hong Kong.
- Working closely with the team members of Hong Kong Operations, Treasury Operations and Credit Processing Services (CPS) in Toronto to ensure all operational services and products are delivered to FLM and CB customers in a timely manner and zero error.
- To ensure that the quality, standards and requirements for the operational services provided (either directly through internal staff functions or indirectly through outsource functions) are met on a day-to-day basis.
- To ensure that operational risk and compliance related risks are monitored and avoided.
- Participate in bank-wide projects assigned to operations of the responsible region(s).
- Provide coaching and training to the new/junior members of the team.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES / DUTIES FOR AUSTRALIA BRANCH:

- Settlement processing for securities via Austraclear and AU RITS including trades via both primary and secondary market e.g. Issuance and redemption of NCD/MTN and Buy/Sell Treasury Bills etc.
- Co-ordinate with RM/CPS for processing syndication and bi-lateral loans i.e. disbursement/rollover/repayment etc. and ensure drawdowns are within credit limit.
- Perform data processing for various financial products including journal entries posting.
- Carry out day-to-day operations and settlement for interbank and corporate clients FX/MM trades and ensure all settlement tasks are completed smoothly and accurately or should notify the Director of any potential risks/issues.
- Contact clients for trade confirmations and settlement instructions.
- Reconcile the trade settlements and investigate any irregularities.
- Monitor the daily balance of suspense and cash accounts.
- Ensure time sensitive payments are settled in a timely manner with proper liquidity arrangement.
- Provide necessary support for settlement of negotiable and non-negotiable instruments under custodian control, if any.
- Co-ordinate with the responsible team in Toronto related to static data setup for customer/borrower account and credit facilities of FLM and CB customers.
- Ensure the static data of FLM and CB customers are properly updated and maintained.
- Actively participate in ad hoc projects, e.g. UAT/SWIFT standard release, system upgrade, new products etc.
- Observes changes likely to impact any aspects of Operations of region to ensure consistent standards, processes and controls.
- Ensure the documented procedures are properly followed or should notify the Director of any necessary changes and/or update for new processes.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES
- Over 1 year operations and settlement experience at a major bank.
- Knowledge of Accounting principles is a must. e.g. booking of entries for bank and customer accounts
- Accurate data entry skills.
- Knowledge of trade life cycle, funds flow, position covering process and liquidity, e.g. retails customer to back office and front office etc.
- Knowledge of SWIFT and payment/settlement systems of major currencies including manual creation of SWIFT payment MT103/MT202.
- Knowledge of bank products and documentation standard, including settlement related to FX, MM, Syndicated and Bi-lateral Loans, Treasury Bills, State Bonds, Term Deposit, MTN and CDI etc.

Product knowledge:

- Interest Rate Derivatives
- Ability to monitor expected cashflows to pre-empt any large settlement issues (cross-currency initial & final exchange)
- Able to access all payments systems to ensure that payment / SWIFT messages have been sent
- Able to process & action payments/settlements when messages have not been issues out of Toronto
- General product knowledge (business conventions, payment dates, etc)
- Fixed Income / Bonds / Repo
- Knowledge of both Austraclear and Euroclear and ability to move transactions between both settlements systems
- Some type of knowledge of Repo / Reverse Repo
- Money Markets: NCDs, Term Deposits, etc
- Cash settlement - FX / Money Market / RBA etc
- Product Settlement - NCD/ Govt Bonds/ Fin Bonds - purchase and sales
- Repo
- Interest Rate Derivatives - Interest Rate and Cross Currency Swaps
- Sound PC skills such as Microsoft word and excel.
