This is a large federal government department responsible for driving economic growth and supporting business to ensure productivity and competitiveness, as well as fostering job creation.

**The Opportunity**:
This exciting opportunity is available for 12 months initially, with a 6 month extension option due to the current incumbent securing an A/g opportunity. The role will **be a critical support function to the People Services GM and wider branch**, as well as working broadly with the Executive Group. Support a Branch of 50-60 staff and get exposure to HR, recruitment and governance. This position has significant exposure to all levels of the executive and will see you further develop and refine your skills.
- Critical EO role working to the GM and driving a range of correspondence - strong written communication and demonstrated ability to be agile and produce a broad range of briefing material is critical
- Get exposure to HR and governance functions - working in corporate services

**This opportunity can be accessed through two avenues**:

- Temporary transfer (s26)
- 12-month non-ongoing contract with view to be extended or convert to permanent APS

**The Role**:
The Executive Officer will manage the workflow and correspondence for the branch and provide strategic oversight and high-level advice and support. The role ensures the obligations of the SES are coordinated and supported by appropriate input and engagement from business areas

In this role, as part of your responsibilities you will:

- Act as the point of contact for the DCE with executive leaders to mitigate risk, advocate and drive outcomes and lead complex initiatives and communications
- Monitor and manage the resourcing and budget requirements of the branch
- Prepare and co-ordinate the provision of effective communications, quality assurance, and correspondence including parliamentary responses, briefings, executive submissions and reports
- Monitor and manage administrative activities with strategic, operational and project plans to inform key decision makers and support achievement of objectives
- Identify, monitor and report on emerging issues to the Executive to ensure effective resolution/escalation, with mínimal risk and impact
- Support the General Manager and management team on matters including staffing, internal budgets, and other corporate matters

**Your Background and Experience**:
You are a high performing APS6 ready to take that step up into an EL1 or you’re an experienced EL1 looking for an exciting new role allowing you to transfer at level. You have a comprehensive understanding of successful communication flow and have worked in high intensity and pressured environments having regular contact with the highest levels of government and their executive offices.

You will also have:

- Significant experience in executive support and coordination at the APS6 or EL1 experience
- Excellent communications skills and experience, including developing complex briefing and coordination materials under tight deadlines
- Project management skills, secretariat and coordination experience
- Superior levels of stakeholder engagement
- Exposure to HR or corporate services would be beneficial but is not essential

**To be eligible for this role you must**:

- Be an Australian citizen
- Be willing to undergo a police check
- **Have a current Baseline security clearance**

**Salary / Rate**:

- $101 - $120k per annum + 15.4% super
- Canberra based role
- S26 transfer or 12 month non-ongoing contract
