**About Austin Mental Health**

The Mental Health division of Austin Health is committed to promoting the highest levels of mental health care for our consumers. In realising this goal, the department will lead and excel in research, teaching and the use of person-centred evidence-based practice. The Mental Health division provides services on all three campuses of Austin Health, from the Emergency Department through to bed-based services and ongoing community care.

**About the Case Manager role.**

The Adolescent Inpatient Unit at Austin Health is a 24/7 psychiatric unit that works closely with young people and their carers to achieve positive outcomes in all areas of functioning. We have 11 beds, and are based at the Austin Hospital in Heidelberg. Adolescents who have turned 13 (but are not yet 18 years of age) are admitted for mental health assessment and treatment when their presentation presents high levels of risk, or when a more specialised service is required for assessment and treatment. These young people may be experiencing significant acute and complex emotional, behavioral and/or social difficulties and usually require some outpatient treatment. The team is also supported by Austin School teaching staff who work to keep young people connected to their home schools or to help them reconnect to appropriate education pathways.

**A regular day will see you**:

- Assess and treat clients, liaising as appropriate with family members and caregivers to promote patient care
- Facilitate a coordinated approach to total client management by working with other team members where required
- Appropriately document client management and provide information to relevant parties
- Participate in continuing education activities, eg. APA and Austin Health programs

You’ll further have:

- A relevant discipline specific qualification and current AHPRA registration or registration with AASW
- The desire to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- The ability to provide treatment for a wide variety of mental health presentations
