The Faculty of Science’s organisational structure consists of two schools, two research institutes, administrative services and technical services. This role sits within out technical services team, who provide technical expertise and support for the teaching and research endeavours of the Faculty. The Assistant Technical Officer provides technical assistance and support to the Faculty of Science to achieve its teaching and research objectives, as relevant to the discipline area.
**In this role, you will be responsible for**:

- Planning and preparing materials and resources for routine practical classes
- Configuring and operating routine equipment and instruments in the preparation of class material, including using the Autoclaves
- Coordinating routine service and repair of standard laboratory equipment
- Assisting Technical Officers in preparing and setting up more specialised classes
- Maintaining inventory of specialised laboratory supplies and consumables to ensure sufficient stocks are available, as required

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including ability to respond to changing circumstances and critical situations
- Knowledge and understanding of laboratory procedures of relevant discipline area
- Experience working in a laboratory and familiarity with laboratory processes
- Completion of a Diploma of Science or equivalent relevant work experience or combination of work experience and education/training
- Knowledge in Molecular Biology, Microbiology and/or Bio chemistry

**Remuneration & Benefits**
**Base Salary Range**: $70,782 to $75,709 pa (HEW 4) This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension)
**in addition** to the base salary. This position is
**full-time** and appointment will be made on a
**permanent basis.**
