About the Role
We’re seeking a Data Initiative Lead to drive the successful delivery of one of our most critical data initiatives: the migration from Teradata to the Jungle platform (S3). This pivotal role combines strategic initiative leadership with hands-on project delivery, operating at the intersection of business, data, and technology.

What will your day look like?
**As a Commercial Data Initiative Lead, you are accountable for**:
**Project Management Expertise**: Leverage a strong background in project management to drive the migration initiative forward, ensuring milestones are met and risks are mitigated.
**Cross-Functional Collaboration**: Work within a cross-skilled squad, collaborating with both business and technology teams to deliver end-to-end features that align with business objectives.
**Data Pipeline Optimization**: Optimize data flows by developing robust, fault-tolerant data pipelines that clean, transform, and aggregate unstructured and messy data into organized databases or data sources.
**Squad Leadership**: Manage a virtual squad of approximately 9 Data Engineers, partnering with a GCC counterpart to migrate a series of inconsistently documented data services from Teradata to Jungle.
**Coordination with Stakeholders**: Collaborate with the Australia Data team, managing dependencies and coordinating the migration of upstream objects.
**Engagement with Product Owners**: Partner with Product Owners within the broader Commercial Data & Analytics team to refactor downstream reporting and data processes impacted by the migration.
**Strategic Decision-Making**: Make informed, strategic decisions on when to consolidate, decommission, streamline, or “lift and shift” data services, balancing efficiency and risk.
**Issue Escalation & Troubleshooting**: Proactively escalate and troubleshoot environmental and data pattern limitations in the transitionary environment, working closely with service providers as tenants of the platform.
**Capability Building**: Support and mentor a workforce that is still adapting to new toolsets and coding languages, fostering capability building and continuous learning.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
Experience leading or contributing to major data migration initiatives, ideally within complex enterprise environments.
Strong background in ETL processes, data reconciliation, database management, and rigorous data quality and integrity testing.
Demonstrates resilience and a constructive attitude when navigating challenges in a fast-evolving, transitionary environment.
Have a proven structured approach to delivery as to execute on a significant objective,
Strong collaboration skills with the ability to influence peers, align priorities, and identify shared goals across teams.
Experience working in Agile environments, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog management.
Familiarity with tools such as SQL, ETL frameworks, data integration platforms, and cloud storage (e.g., S3).
Familiarity with Starburst and KNIME is an added advantage
Experience with working with Technology, Data and Platforms teams
Extensive experience working within cross-functional, agile, or continuous delivery teams.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Basic understanding of AWS, Azure, or GCP services relevant to data storage, data processing, and data integration.
