**About this opportunity**

We are currently seeking internal and external expressions of interest for a **Men's Suicide Prevention Worker **who will be based at Coffs Harbour, Mid North Coast, NSW. This program is a trauma-informed, non-clinical, practical support service aimed at supporting the priority population of men (including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men) across the HNC (Healthy North Coast) catchment.

The service aims to support men at a time and place that suits them, at a frequency that suits them. Additionally, a strong focus will be on developing relationships with local GPs and other allied health providers to help circulate this information to male patients as a potential referral pathway. Wellways will use a hub and spoke and community development model to support this engagement.

This position will be based with Wellways, however the program is part of a larger project funded by Healthy North Coast PHN. Working individually, Men's Suicide Prevention Workers provide a trauma-informed, non-clinical, practical support service aimed at supporting men at a time and place that suits them to access support to navigate distress. Supporting this, Men's Suicide Prevention Workers develop relationships with a wide range of local GPs and other allied health providers to help navigate Men access to these services.

**To be successful in this role, you will possess the following**
- A contemporary understanding of mental health issues and recovery orientated mental health practice
- Completion of the Certificate 4 in Mental Health, Certificate 4 in Mental Health Peer Work or Certificate 4 in Community Services, or equivalent practical experience working in a lived experience role.
- Rights to work in Australia
- Current valid Driver Licence and the ability to undertake some travel
- Satisfactory Police Records Check [less than 12 months old] and Working with Children Check, prior to commencement
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWSC) is mandatory prior to commencement
