**For over 30 years, Castle has helped people with disabilities, mental health conditions, chronic illnesses and injuries find work, connection with their community and live meaningful lives in the Newcastle, Hunter, and Central Coast regions.**

**Castle’s group of highly passionate people, provide support to people to empower and facilitate them to achieve social and economic participation through capacity building, social connection, training, education and employment in collaboration with community referral partners.**

**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**

**Castle NDIS provides eligible youth and adults with a disability the opportunity to develop life skills that will assist in increasing independence, participation in positive social experiences while building friendships and the ability to gain meaningful employment.**

**Castle is on the hunt for applicants interested in opportunities throughout Hunter and Lake Macquarie Castle sites including Maitland, Cessnock, Mayfield, Belmont and Toronto.**

**The Disability Support Worker role is employed on a casual basis where there may be a requirement to work shifts that are rostered Monday-Friday, weekends, public holidays and evenings. As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide flexible and timely support that responds to the needs of the participants accessing these initiatives. Specifically, the Disability Support Worker will support participants with their individual goals which may include: participating in daily living activities, building capacity to achieve employment, and accessing and participating in social activities in the community.**

**ESSENTIAL CRITERIA**
- **NDIS Workers Check (or willingness to obtain)**
- **Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)**:

- **Current driver’s licence (minimum P2) and own transport**
- **Customer service skills, communication skills and time managamenet ability**

**PREFERRED CRITERIA**
- **A commitment to creating opportunity and supporting people to live great lives**:

- **An understanding of the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme)**:

- **Ability to work flexible hours to meet participant need**:

- **High level attention to detail and the ability to record accurate file notes**:

- **Desired but not essential is the completion of Cert III in related field (e.g. Community Services, Youth Work, Disability)**:

- **Previous experience supporting youth or people with a disability would be beneficial**
