**The Role**:
Reporting to the Manager City Development, you will responsible for the day-to-day operation and leadership to the Planning Team, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of planning advisory and assessment services.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Leading the team to ensure the provision of high-quality services
- Ensure compliance with legislative and administrative requirements
- Effectively communicating changes to legislation, updating work practices accordingly.
- Supporting team development including professional development and team goal setting
- Developing and using collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals.
- Crafting and implementing service practices that meet customers’ and own organisation’s needs.
- Providing strategic responses where development proposals present broader organisational opportunities.
- Ensuring accurate and high-quality documentation and records in relation to all team activities.
- Assisting the Manager City Development with budgeting, procurement, project plans and reporting as required.
- Contributing to the design, implementation, measurement and reporting of systems which deliver exemplary customer service.
- Representing Council at meetings with relevant authorities, residents and general public.

In addition to your love of problem solving and great relationship building and communication skills, you will possess the following:

- Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent tertiary qualification.
- Proven track record leading, developing and growing a team of people to meet service standards.
- High customer focus and orientation, delivering constructive outcomes for community and Council
- Extensive experience in urban planning and development assessment.
- Extensive experience in the preparation of briefing papers, reports and general correspondence.
- Detailed knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office and SA Planning Portal
- Eligible to join Planning Institute of Australia Member or Associate
- Accredited Professional - Planning Level 1 as defined under the PDI Accredited Professionals Scheme (or willingness to obtain on appointment to the role).
- Current White Card.
- Current National Police Clearance.
- Current Class C Drivers Licence
