**The Role**:
Reporting to the Team Leader Planning, you will be responsible for the provision of high
- quality development assessment services with a strong focus on achieving positive outcomes for our community.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prepare reports for the Council Assessment Panel.
- Provide professional technical planning and development advice to the community, applicants and key stakeholders.
- Provide quality customer experience and ensure good customer relations
- Liaise with internal and external professionals and agencies provide and receive specialist advice on a range of issues, and determine and report their views in relation to the development assessment process.
- Contribute to the operation of the team and lead change that will achieve improvements to culture, quality, process, outputs and outcomes.
- Investigate complaints of alleged breaches of legislation and negotiate resolution or prepare documentation and evidence for prosecutions as required.
- Provide high quality planning assessment services to the community
- Provide advice and education around planning matters that relate to West Torrens

**‘What you look like’ and need to demonstrate to be successful’.**

In addition to your love of problem solving and great relationship building and communication skills, you will possess the following:

- Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent tertiary qualification.
- Experience preparing briefing papers, reports and general correspondence required for the role.
- Detailed knowledge of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016, previous Development Act 1993, Planning and Design Code and other legislation related to development assessment functions.
- Eligible to join Planning Institute of Australia Member or Associate
- Accredited Professional - Planning Level 4 as defined under the PDI Accredited Professionals Scheme (or willingness to obtain on appointment to the role).
- Considerable knowledge of the Local Government Act, Environment Protection Act and Council Policies applicable to the activities of the position.
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office and SA Planning Portal.
- Current White Card.
- Current National Police Clearance.
- Current Class C Drivers Licence
