Established in 1871, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is located in Sydney’s The Domain adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden and near the Central Business District, the Art Gallery acknowledges the original custodians of this land - the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.

The Art Gallery attracts around 2 million visitors annually and runs one of Australia’s largest art education programs with over 90,000 student and teacher visits per year.

Our expanded campus opened in late 2022, providing the Art Gallery with a new state-of-the-art building located next to our existing and much-loved building. The addition has given the Art Gallery double the exhibition space, allowing us to significantly increase our scheduled exhibitions, companion publications, family programming and educational programs, allowing the Art Gallery to share more art with more people.

**About the role**

Move, install and maintain all works of art within the Gallery and specified external institutions in a safe manner. The position holder prepares and maintains exhibition/gallery spaces, and is responsible for unpacking, packing, moving and correctly storing artworks, display furnishings, and associated material.

**What technical / soft skills you require**

**1. Experience installing a wide variety of artworks in a museum or relevant cultural environment**:
**2. Proven ability to operate power tools and mechanised lifting equipment.**:
**3. Sound ability to identify, assess, document and mitigate risks to people and art, underpinned by a working knowledge of the structure and fabric of buildings, current museum conservation principles, and WHS requirements.**:
**4. Excellent ability to interpret architectural plans, technical specifications and work, health and safety documentation and to communicate and document installations.**:
**5. Physically resilient and able to undertake repetitive manual handling, ability to stand for long periods of time, and cover significant distances each day.**:
**Targeted questions**
- Collaboration: Provide an example of a successful exhibition in which you worked collaboratively with other staff/team members to improve outcomes for the organisation as a whole. (300 words)
- Technical knowledge: Provide an example of how you were able to use your technical skills (for artist, display, performance, safety requirements or similar) to successfully meet the expectations of an Exhibition display. (300 words)
