**About the role**
This is a permanent/full-time position working 38 hours per week located at Shoalhaven Animal Shelter.
This role will supervise, manage and coordinate the day-to-day functions of the Animal Shelter including the facility, staff, contracts and finances.
The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.
**Duties**
Reporting directly to the Lead - Ranger Services, the focus of this position is to:
- Coordinate strategies and operations of the Animal Shelter Team including collaboration with the Ranger Services Unit.
- Supervise staff and ensure they are trained, qualified, and well presented as front-line Council employees.
- Manage roster to ensure adequate coverage for core hours and weekends.
- Prepare and respond to a range of written and verbal enquiries including legislation and policy reviews, statistics and reports.
- Monitor, edit and respond to social media in relation to animal shelter activities.
- Implement strategies to enhance rehoming, education and responsible pet ownership and relationship building with stakeholders including rescue groups.
**Skills & Experience**
To be successful in the position, you will possess:
- Diploma in Management or equivalent experience
- Extensive experience in leading a team
- Experience in monitoring and planning budgets
- Demonstrated effective time management and prioritisation skills
- Proof of Australian residency, citizenship or authority to work in Australia (Visa)
- A current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC)
Council requires applicants for this position to undergo a National Criminal History Check during the recruitment process. This check will be at the expense of Council.
