- Work where we work best - Hybrid office/work-from-home environment- The FinOps Lead is responsible for driving efficient financial management of our cloud infrastructure, optimizing costs and maximizing value. By independently identifying and championing implementation of strategic initiatives and leveraging data-driven insights, the role aims to ensure the optimal allocation of resources, enabling our organization to achieve its goals while maintaining financial stability and compliance.
- Where appropriate, the FinOps lead may act as 2IC for the Senior Manager, Platform Operations.

- People Management:
- Lead the implementation and management of FinOps practices within the organization, driving cost optimization and efficiency in cloud-based financials- Operations:
- Work closely with Technology teams to independently forecast cloud costs, optimisation opportunities and manage constraints, to enable negotiation of favourable pricing and terms-
- Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and budgets for IT Finance, ensuring alignment with business objectives and priorities-
- Analyze and track cloud spending and utilization, identifying opportunities for cost savings and optimization-
- Implement chargeback and showback methodologies to allocate cloud costs and demonstrate the value of IT investments to stakeholders-
- Work closely with the DevSecOps team to implement policies and procedures for cloud resource allocation and usage tracking to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness-
- Stay updated on new offerings, pricing models, and discounts to leverage opportunities for cost savings-
- Develop and maintain relationships with cloud service providers and vendors, input into negotiating contracts and pricing to optimize costs and value-
- Implement cost-saving initiatives and best practices across the organization-
- Deploy and manage cost optimisation toolsets specific to the cloud landscape- Strategy:
- Develop and champion strategic initiatives to optimize cloud spending and drive efficiencies-
- Identify and prioritize cost-saving opportunities through data analysis and market research-
- Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to management on financial matters related to cloud infrastructure-
- Provide financial guidance and support to project teams and business units, assisting with financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities-
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to to develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance and accuracy- Financial:
- Analyse financial data independently to identify trends, risks, and opportunities related to cloud spending-
- Drive initiatives to ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls-
- Optimize resource allocation independently to maximize cost-effectiveness and utilization-
- Prepare and present financial reports and analysis to senior management and key stakeholders, highlighting trends, insights, and opportunities for improvement- About you- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business (or other relevant field) and/or relevant experience-
- Relevant certifications such as Certified FinOps Practitioner (CFOP) or Certified Cloud Financial Management Professional (CCFMP) are a plus-
- Framework certifications - ITIL, PRINCE2, COBIT, TOGAF or similar highly desirable-
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the industry, with a strong focus on cloud-based financials and IT Finance-
- Demonstrable experience in implementing FinOps practices in organizations, resulting in measurable cost savings and efficiency gains-
- Strong understanding of IT Finance principles, FinOps practices, chargeback, and showback methodologies-
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement-
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills-
- Experience through participation in commercial processes, such as vendor relationship management, RFPs and management of vendor service transitions-
- Experience influencing technology changes-
- Working knowledge of cloud analytics and FinOps-
- Experience in strategic technology planning and policy development-
- Working knowledge of IT frameworks such as ITIL including key processes - knowledge, incident, change, service request and major-incident management-
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and other financial reporting tools, with the ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data-
