We currently have an exciting opportunity within our Battlespace Integrated Solutions team as a System Safety Manager based in Edinburgh Parks, SA.
In this integral role you will provide expert technical system safety advice in support of Program deliverables, including technical support to Directors, Project Managers, Project Engineering Managers and Technical Authorities

**Your new role**:
**As a System Safety Manager you will**:
- Manage a team of system safety specialists
- Implement and manage an auditable hazard management system that is based on MIL-STD-882E and implemented in accordance with your System Safety Program Plan
- Demonstrate that risks to health and safety have been eliminated so far as reasonably practicable during system definition, design, synthesis and implementation stages
- Verify that the final system designs for the Mission System and the Support System (including components and processes) satisfy safety requirements, and that any hazards have been eliminated or their risks otherwise controlled during system design
- Support the development and deployment of an integrated safety framework
- Accountable for delivery of the following:
- Conduct the system safety program in accordance with your System Safety Program Plan
- Develop, deliver and update Hazard Analysis Reports
- Develop, deliver and update a Hazard Log
- Develop, deliver and update a Safety Case Report
- For each configuration item offered for Acceptance, provide the materiel safety information (e.g. safety case report, copies of Australian design registration documents and other certifications, equipment operator manuals, analysis results, calibration records and test reports)
- Maintain a Radiation Safety Plan (RSP) in accordance with the Defence Radiation Safety Manual
- Conduct System Safety Working Groups and reviews to support the safety program
- Cost account management for the system safety program
- Ensure system safety program deliverables are achieved to support the agreed project engineering schedule
About you
**As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have**:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering
- Chartered Professional Engineer status or commitment to obtain within 12 months of appointment
- Experience in pragmatically implementing Safety Standards
- Proven experience in holding a delegation and people management
- Ability to confidently guide internal and external stakeholders on Safety Standards
- Ability to plan and set strategy in delivering a Project Safety Case
- Experience in Defence sustainment and Acquisition projects desirable
- Must have an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
