**Consultant Paediatrician (Dandenong Hospital Outpatient Clinic)**

Dandenong Hospital (DH) has expanded its General Paediatric outpatient service to four clinics per week. Each clinic is supported by a consultant and registrar. The clinics are designed for follow-up of inpatients not only from Dandenong but also for the greater patient catchment area presenting to Monash Childrens and Casey Hospitals. DH will grow into a centre of excellence for outpatient paediatric care and support the education and training of junior medical staff across the Monash Health network. It is also envisaged that DH will extend its support to the local GP network in delivering quality healthcare to children across the region.

Recently there has been an increasing demand for the treatment of children presenting with behavioural/developmental challenges. It is envisaged that these patients will be triaged to a focused clinic (Friday afternoons), which initially will be run twice/month with options to expand with further demand. Ideally, a single clinician will be matched to these clinics to maximize continuity of patient care.

**Job Summary**
- The clinician must be a member of the RACP and be eligible to bill through Medicare.
- Support and assist the Unit Head of Dandenong and the Director of Monash Children’s, Monash Health in the provision of high quality General Paediatric Services, consistent with the Monash Health values.
- Provide clinical leadership through active involvement in patient care.
- Be available to medical colleagues for consultation and liaison as appropriate regarding patient care.
- Support academic, research, education, training & supervision (both undergraduate and postgraduate) roles in the General Paediatric Unit, Monash Health.
- Contribute to the professional and corporate life of Monash Health by participation in appropriate committees and fora.
- Contribute to ongoing service improvement and clinical and workforce innovation to ensure Monash Health provides high quality accessible General Paediatric Services within allocated resources and meets the needs of Monash Health patients.
