An exciting opportunity has emerged for a passionate and community-driven professional to join the City of Boroondara’s Active Ageing team in the role of Active Ageing Volunteer and Facilities Support Officer.
This full-time position reports to the Active Ageing Partnerships and Projects Coordinator and plays a vital, hands-on role in supporting Council’s Active Ageing programs and facilities.
A little bit about the role
The Active Ageing Volunteer and Facilities Support Officer plays a key role in shaping a vibrant, meaningful volunteer experience across a range of Active Ageing programs including the Seniors Exercise Park, Boroondara Cooks, Assisted Transport, Social Support, Seniors Film Festival and more.
With a strong focus on volunteer leadership and community collaboration, the role supports the engagement, recruitment, onboarding, training and recognition of our dedicated volunteers while also driving new initiatives that bring people together and foster positive ageing in Boroondara.
**Key responsibilities include**:
Leading the engagement and development of volunteers across multiple Active Ageing programs
Collaborating with teams and partners to deliver impactful community projects
Designing and facilitating training and onboarding for new and existing volunteers
Providing support to casual hirers and community users of Council facilities including responding to enquiries, managing maintenance requests and troubleshooting facility use issues
Supporting volunteer compliance, communications and recognition initiatives
Contributing to planning, evaluation and policy development to enhance volunteer-led services
Building strong relationships with community organisations, seniors groups, and internal stakeholders.

You are a natural connector with a passion for community, inclusion and ageing well. You bring experience working with volunteers and a flair for bringing people together to deliver practical, creative and meaningful programs.
What are we looking for?
**To be successful in this role you will have**:
Qualifications and/or experience in Social Work, Welfare, Community Services, Human Resources, or related field is desirable with relevant experience
A track record of working with volunteers and fostering a positive, inclusive culture
Previous experience in facility support will be highly regarded
Strong communication and organisational skills, with an eye for both detail and the big picture
Confidence working across multiple programs and stakeholders
An understanding of volunteer management principles and compliance requirements
A current Working with Children Check
