**About us**

Established in 1871, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is located in Sydney’s The Domain adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden and near the Central Business District, the Gallery acknowledges the original custodians of this land - the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.

With our expanded campus recent opening the Gallery has a new state-of-the-art building located next to our existing and much-loved building. Providing us with close to double the exhibition space, the expanded Gallery enables us to share more art with more people and provide more family, learning and educational programming for all our audiences. We are expecting to welcome around 2 million visits over the next 12 months.

**About the Role**

To lead, manage and maintain all Art Gallery work sites and all facilities which support the delivery of the Gallery’s overall strategic goals. Responsible for ensuring efficient operation of all facilities and construction in compliance with relevant legislation and standards associated with a heritage listed, state significant building which operates as a public art gallery. Manages all building projects including the construction and fit out within existing buildings and exhibition requirements. Provides specialist advice and support to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

**What technical / soft skills you require**

1. Tertiary qualifications in a field related to engineering, facilities management or construction, and/or relevant industry experience.

2. Experience managing construction projects, facilities, and engineering based projects as well as managing a variety of contract services.

3. Significant experience in a similar senior role managing a complex, multi-use public building.

5. Well-developed understanding of technical issues relating to building and facilities, including understanding heritage buildings, the operation and maintenance of fire services, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems; understanding of energy reduction, waste recycling, and contract management.

6. Highly developed project management and communication skills.
