**ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS**:

**Supervision**: All members of staff, including volunteers and sessional tutors

**Internal liaisons**:Community House users, Committee of Management

**External liaisons**:Government departments, Government and non-government agencies, community groups and community members.

**BACKGROUND**: Situated at the foot of the Dandenong Ranges, adjacent to The Basin Primary School, The Basin Community House Inc, (TBCH), is one of five community houses within the City of Knox (Knox Learning Alliance). A registered charity, the House is run by a Committee of Management which is nominated at the Annual General Meeting. Operating for over 34 years, The Basin Community House Inc seeks to be an organisation that is available for all people to use, enhances the quality of their lives, improves their sense of belonging and their connection to the local community.

**ROLE PURPOSE**:

- Manage all funds, employees and activities of The Basin Community House.
- Oversee all operations of The Basin Community House Inc.

**PRIMARY TASKS**:
All tasks are underpinned by funding guidelines, organisation policies, budget and plans.
- Lead the organisation to provide a range of responsive and locally relevant social, educational, health, wellbeing and cultural opportunities for community members.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the community house.
- Ensure the committee receive accurate and timely information and reports to make informed and responsible decisions.
- Work with the Treasurer, Finance Officer and Committee to monitor and manage financial viability and operational efficiency.
- Identify the talents and skills of staff, committee members, volunteers and house participants and facilitate opportunities to foster these for the benefit and development of both the individual and the organisation.
- Network with other community groups and other neighbourhood houses in the local and wider community.

**SPECIFIC DUTIES**:
**Management**
- Maintain and cultivate a warm and positive environment where all community members feel welcome to connect, learn and belong.
- Manage The Basin Community House effectively and efficiently.
- Keep the Committee of Management adequately informed to carry out their role effectively.
- Maintain robust administrative, information, reporting and communication systems.
- Regular review, evaluate and modify activities and programs to reflect changing community needs.
- Ensure that the organisation complies with government legislation.

**Department of Families, Fairness & Housing - Neighbourhood House Coordination Program**
- Ensure Neighbourhood House Coordination Program funding is managed, delivered and reported in compliance with DFFH Service Agreement requirements
- Plan programs and activities to meet Service Agreement requirements.
- Advise and involve the Committee of Management in fulfilling Service Agreement objectives, in relation to Neighbourhood House Program funding.
- Liaise with Bookkeeper, Finance Officer and other appropriate staff or committee members to ensure financial accountability agreements are met.
- Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions Adult, Community & Further Education

(Learn Local)
- Ensure that the organisation complies with the standards for Learn Local Organisations and organise and participate in an annual internal self-assessment of its compliance with these standards.
- Ensure that the organisation provides access to appropriate documentation, records (including internal self-assessment reports) and staff as required for audit purposes.
- Report to the Committee of Management on the organisation’s compliance with the standards for all g
