Brisbane, Australia Mental Health Review Tribunal (MHRT) Full time

The role Reporting to the Executive Officer, the Consumer Engagement Officer facilitates interaction between the Tribunal, consumers of mental health services and their carers and members of the lived experience workforce. The role is responsible for identifying barriers, including cultural differences, that may impact on a consumer's willingness to attend Tribunal hearings.
You will contribute to the design of Tribunal strategies, policies and procedures to support the Tribunal's strategic goals regarding positive relationships to maximise consumer participation in Tribunal hearings and the promotion of consumer rights.
Integral to this role is also high level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to develop networks and partnerships and to consult and negotiate with stakeholders, establishing vital links in the broader mental health system.
You will be able to speak to your understanding of the Tribunal's operating environment and its statutory role and outline your knowledge of the unique issues faced by consumers under the Mental Health Health Act 2016 including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
You will be a motivated individual who is committed to the highest level of client engagement and is able to set priorities and work under pressure to achieve outcomes.
The position is based in Brisbane CBD, however there will be a requirement to visit organisations and venues throughout Queensland.
The Tribunal consists of the President, Deputy President, Executive Officer, staff and Members, including lawyers, psychiatrists and other persons with relevant qualifications and/or experience that exercise the Tribunal's jurisdiction and facilitate the function of same.
