- Position Located in Dandenong South
A privately owned transport business that prides itself on long term employees, customers and suppliers. They have 30 years of continued steady growth with operations in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. They have a large modern fleet of prime movers and trailers and a workshop that services and maintains their equipment. They are now looking for an experienced payroll officer to manage their end to end weekly payroll. As part of the finance and administration team, major responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supervising a team of two, manage and process payroll for a large workforce of 175 employees plus.
- Calculate and input of employee hours, overtime, bonuses, and other earnings.
- Preparing and checking all superannuation requirements.
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure employee information is up-to-date.
- Raise all employee contracts & amendments to contracts.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues and resolve any payroll-related discrepancies.
- Manage and process payroll-related deductions, such as taxes, benefits, and retirement contributions.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and ensure accurate reporting to accounting and finance teams.
- Prepare payroll tax.
- Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information.
- Stay up to date with changes in payroll laws and regulations, and make recommendations for process improvements.
- Work within the transport sector to ensure payroll processes align with industry-specific requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
- At least 4 years of experience in payroll processing and administration.
- Experience managing payroll for a large workforce of 175 employees or more.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience
- Knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
- Familiarity with transport sector
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage time effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
