Your role at St John of God Social Outreach
As a Peer Support Worker, you will greet clients to the service, ensures a welcoming and hospitable entry point, and provides support and psychoeducation to clients.
We value lived experience and see peer support as crucial part of the mental health recovery. Our Peer Support Worker roles are designed for individuals ready to share their journey to guide and inspire others mental health issues. Your insights will be vital in shaping understanding, enhancing our services, and ensuring we provide person-led, strengths-focused, recovery-oriented support.
You will provide the highest level of support to individuals who are provided with a service by the respective Medicare Mental Health Centre service setting. This will be achieved through the implementation of services and programs that are flexible and individualised in response to each person being supported.
The Position- Participate in a range of appropriate programs and activities aimed at increasing the individual’s skills, knowledge and improve access to required services in the community.- Provide the highest level of support for individuals supported and ensure each person supported is treated with respect that enhances their personal worth, dignity and rights, always.- Assist in achieving individual’s, team and service goals and objectives.- Seek ways of improving the service standards through working closely with clinical care givers, line managers and contributing to meetings.- Maintain a high level of service provision for all individual’s and ensure the health, wellbeing and safety of all people supported and staff is always maintained.- Support the identified needs of individuals in relation to their life circumstances.- Ensure that where required attendance to personal care needs of clients is undertaken in a professional, empathetic and timely manner.- Maintain all client related records in the designated client management system.- Contribute to the development of Care Plans.
You will have experience working with service providers & community groups to promote community understanding and awareness of people who experience issues, well-developed written and verbal communication & interpersonal skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
Successful applicants will have basic computer skills & knowledge, current working with children check and national police clearance.

We can offer:
- Salary: $68,939 to $74,417 (pro rata for part-time) plus 12% superannuation- Permanent part-time (x2), working 0.6 and 0.8 FTE- Salary packaging up to $18,550 on a range of benefits such as mortgage, rent, meal entertainment, holiday accommodation or other everyday living expenses as well as options to salary package benefits above the FBT cap on items such as:
