Fitzroy North Part-time Nanny

**Our Family**:

- Hello We are looking for a lovely nanny for our two young boys - 1yo and 3yo. The 3yo will be at kinder 3 days per week, so it will predominantly be one child, but at times will be both. We are looking for two regular days per week (Tuesdays and another day, preferably Wednesday, but this may be flexible) + additional hours and evenings at times, as our work schedules change. A little bit about us - we are a busy family of 5, mum, dad, two boys and a rather old and lazy, but much loved, dog. My partner and I are both medical professionals. I have been on maternity leave for the past year, but will be gradually increasing my hours again over the course of the year. Our boys are relatively easy going and do well with routine. Neither has been in formal childcare before, as they have been looked after by family, nonna and our lovely current nanny who is leaving us to pursue further study. Our older boy is on the quieter end, he loves reading, music, dance, building things, colouring, cooking, bike riding, animals and being outside. Our younger boy is quite active, has been walking since 11mths, loves eating, climbing and following his big brother everywhere. He is also beginning to like books, loves a ball, and is very cuddly. As far as the boys go, we are a screen-free household, and probably have a somewhat Montessori approach to parenting, play and learning etc. As a family we love being outside, travelling, going on adventures to the playground, beach, zoo or museum, cooking and eating together, and reading stories. We are a bilingual household, with my partner speaking to the boys entirely in Russian. My background is Italian, and we have been trying to foster some Italian language as well through my mum and lessons for our older boy. Our previous nanny has felt like part of the family, with both boys, (and parents) being quite attached to her We would love to find someone who is able to form a similarly lasting relationship with our family.

**Your Duties**:

- Duties would include: - day to day care of one or both children - providing and supervising meals and snacks, dressing, nappies / toileting (older boy is toilet trained) - playing / engaging with the children - taking children to local classes and activities - music class, library story time, playgrounds, all within walking distance - monitoring and caring for the dog - making sure he has access to water, can get outside, isn't terrorised by the children(), doesn't escape, the odd pat wouldn't go astray (won't be required to feed or pick up poos) - keeping the children's areas of the house tidy - eg packing up after play, meals etc - duties are mainly focussed on children, however, any additional help with housework would be GREATLY appreciated, eg, during nap time it would be super helpful to assist with putting away laundry or any other tasks to keep the household running

- We are looking for someone with the following qualities: - friendly, caring and loving - able to connect with both of our children - professional - reliable, trustworthy, turns up on time, communicates well, able to give and receive feedback constructively - enthusiastic and creative in terms of play and engaging with young children - interested in child development and would be keen to foster and extend interests in our children - we see most activities as an opportunity for learning - takes initiative - we are a busy family, it would be great to have someone who, once you have had a chance to get to know us, can work to the changing needs of the children and family as a whole - prioritises the safety of the children in an age appropriate way - flexible - comfortable with, and hopefully loves, dogs - our dog is very much part of the family - Italian or Russian speaking would be brilliant, but not at all necessary - Firs aid training isn't required, but would be advantageous - References are required
