The Department of Health plays a critical role in the Victorian health system and is responsible for shaping it to meet the health needs of all Victorians. We’re focused on
supporting Victorians to be as healthy as they can; whether through alerting them to seasonal risks like thunderstorm asthma, notifying them of contact with
communicable diseases, safeguarding their drinking water, developing the best health, wellbeing and care facilities in the world, being at the forefront of mental health and
wellbeing treatment or accelerating medical research. It’s all part of the way we partner with the community to help every individual lead a healthy life.
**About the role**:
- The Financial Analyst will support the ICT Finance and Shared Services Manager in the development and coordination of the Department's contributions to the State Budget process. This includes working collaboratively with internal divisions, central agencies, and ministers' offices to prepare budget submissions and associated deliverables. The role also involves assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Enterprise Technology Branch and promoting budget literacy across the team and broader organisation.
- In addition, the Financial Analyst will build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including central agencies and program and policy areas within the Department.
- To succeed in this role, you will be a high-performing individual with demonstrated strengths in leadership, financial, conceptual and analytical thinking, problem solving, policy development, and written and verbal communication. This position is well-suited to individuals who are confident navigating complex policy, budget, and administrative matters, thrive in multidisciplinary teams, and proactively engage with stakeholders.
**About us**:
- At the Victorian Department of Health we want a future where Victorians are the healthiest people in the world. A Victoria where our children and people thrive, our workplaces are productive and safe, and our communities are more connected.
- We see it as our job to support Victorians to stay healthy and safe. And to deliver a world-class healthcare system that ensures every single Victorian can access safe, quality care that leads to better health outcomes for all.
**About you**:
**Can you demonstrate?**
- Supporting the ICT Finance and Shared Services Manager and CIO engagement efforts by contributing to the identification of portfolio-specific expenditure priorities that align with government objectives and fiscal constraints, particularly within the eHealth and Department of Health context.
- Assisting in preparing timely, accurate, and well-informed advice on budget and resource allocation matters for internal stakeholders, including the Manager, program teams, and other eHealth staff.
- Maintaining awareness of health-related portfolio issues, including relevant Commonwealth and State legislative and policy developments, flagging any emerging risks or opportunities with the Manager.
- Ensuring compliance with government, eHealth, and ETB strategies and policies, including adherence to the PDM and other endorsed methodologies.
- Contributing to the development of budget submissions and associated deliverables, ensuring consistency with departmental priorities and in compliance with State Budget process requirements.

**What we offer**:
- The opportunity to perform meaningful work, making direct contributions toward enabling Victorians to be the healthiest people in the world.
- A wide range of growth and development opportunities within the department and wider Victorian Public Service & Sector.
