It provides policing throughout Australia in relation to the prevention and detection of crimes against the Commonwealth, its laws and integrity, and community police services to the Community of the ACT.

The Business Area

Criminal Records sits within Business Services and consist of two areas:
**Vetting**: Providing National Police Checking Services, generally related to employment, security clearances or for regulatory purposes on a fee for service basis

**Data Integrity and Response**: Responsible for the recording and maintenance of court outcomes as well has providing Criminal History Information Government Agencies and Police jurisdictions

Business Services is a multifaceted branch which sits within the CFO Command and directly contributes to AFP operational outcomes, providing support and enabling our people to deliver maximum impact to the criminal environment. Our objectives are to:
Support our frontline by delivering high-quality corporate and shared services to the AFP
Manage and implement business and system improvements to remove barriers, speed up decision making and increase efficiency
Provide training and help desk facilities to enhance partnerships, engage and work closely with partners
Provide Criminal History services to the public, employers, Government Agencies and Police jurisdictions

Business Services offers and employs a range of flexible work options by mutual agreement and in accordance with operational priorities including but not limited to part time and flexible work arrangements.

The Role

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Leader Criminal Records

The role leads and manages the priorities in the delivery of the services provided by the Criminal Records Vetting team. You will be expected to provide expert guidance and development of all team members to enable the delivery of these services.

The Team Leader works in a high tempo, high volume environment delivering National Police Checks for A.C.T and Commonwealth. The Team Leader will:
Oversee the annual assessment and delivery of over 800,000 National Police Checks

Work within multiple layers of legislation

Deliver on the continuous education and professional growth of the team members

Driving business process improvements for the reduction of red tape

Contribute to the development of governance and policy across teams

Supporting and enhancing well-being and welfare of team members

Actively contribute to the leadership team, both within Criminal Records and Business Services

Working with clients and stakeholders including the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC), Australia Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) and other law enforcement agencies in the exchange of information

Essential Requirements

You must be an Australian Citizen.
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team.
A demonstrated ability to understand all relevant legislation.
An understanding of relevant information systems or the ability to gain some.
