**About Us**:
Meridan is a Prep-Year 12 College and boasts a distinctive subschool structure which fosters the education of this broad age range of students in modern campuses which have been purpose designed to cater for each cohort at their specific age of development. Each phase offers a diverse and rich curriculum supported by quality teaching that gives our students a seamless progression through their 13 years of schooling. A dense rainforest divides the site creating an attractive environment and providing a separation of the sub schools. A boardwalk which transverses the rainforest links the sub schools and provides unique learning experiences for our students in a beautiful, natural environment.
While still a relatively new school, Meridan has already established a reputation as a high performing school with an emphasis on quality teaching and high standards of behaviour in a safe, supportive environment.
**About the Role**:
**As the Head of Special Education Services, you will**:
- Lead embedding the Culture of Inclusion
- Lead and Manage ICP's, IBSPs, NCCD processes
- Work closely with the HOD -Student services to implement PBL, restorative practices, ESCMs
- Develop the quality of teaching and learning
- Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, the community and stakeholders.
The Head of Special Education Services is accountable to and under the direction of the Principal or delegate.
**Highly desirable skills and knowledge**:
- Student wellbeing and services
- Behaviour management
- Trauma-Informed Practices/education strategies
- Mental Health / social / emotional support strategies
- Strong conflict resolution, mediation skills and staff team building skills
- Build and maintain extensive community partnerships with support agencies
- Data Literacy to develop and implement systems to track, monitor and lead intervention for student learning progress and wellbeing
- Provide high quality advice to the school leadership team, classroom teachers and other school staff to develop, plan and implement effective reasonable adjustments for students with disability.
