**About The Role and Responsibilities**

**Tasks Include**:

- Ensuring the safety and well-being of clients
- Assess clients’ individual needs to plan, develop, and implement tailored educational, training, and support programs.
- Empowering and facilitation clients to become more independent, to increase skills and to improve their quality of life
- Supporting and facilitation community engagement and participation in a manner that promotes client acceptance
- Conduct interviews with clients to identify and evaluate the nature and extent of their difficulties
- Monitor client progress, maintaining detailed records and reporting as required
- Assess community needs and available resources relating to health, welfare, housing, employment, training, and other essential services
- Implementing client skills and activities programmes under limited supervision either individually or as part of a team as part of the delivery of disability services;
- Liaise and build strong relationships with community groups, welfare organisations, government agencies, and private businesses to address community issues and promote awareness of available resources and services
- Support families and provide care and education for children, people with disability, and residents in adult service units, group homes, and government facilities
- Assisting in the development or implementation of resident care plans or the planning, cooking or preparation of the full range of meals under limited supervision either individually or as part of a team as part of the delivery of disability services.
- Assist young people to address and resolve social, emotional, and financial challenges
- Prepare detailed submissions for funding and resources, and compile reports for government bodies and other relevant agencies
- Perform elementary tasks within a community service program requiring knowledge of established work practices and procedures relevant to the work area;
- Supporting and assisting clients to appropriately manage their behaviour through the implementation of Behaviour Support and Management Plans
- Achieve outcomes which are clearly defined;
- Respond to enquiries;
- Assist senior employees with special projects;
- Provision of attendant care in home, day center or community based.

**Qualifications and other requirements expected from a Residential Care Officer**

1. Certificate III Individual Supports or IV in Disability, Individual Support, Community Services or equivalent qualifications will be highly regarded

2. A recent minimum of one year of relevant experience working similar role within the disability or aged care sector as a support worker

3. **Experience working with people living with Mental Health disorders highly regarded**

4. A valid driver license with your own reliable vehicle.

5. Ability to work independently and without supervision.

6. Current First Aid and CPR certification

7. NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)

8. Current Police Check

9. Strong interpersonal and communication skills

10. Understanding of duty of care and person-centred approaches

Pay: $77,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
