**Visiting Medical Officer in Neurosurgery**

John Hunter Hospital is seeking an experienced Neurosurgeon to provide contemporary, comprehensive and professional specialist Neurosurgery services that are safe, effective, evidence based, and patient centred to patients, carers and their families at John Hunter Hospital and across Hunter New England Local Health District.

**Essential criteria**:

- Primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Neurosurgery
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Neurosurgery and completion of further subspecialty experience in complex spinal surgery as a fellow, post specialist qualification
- Commitment to the provision of rural consultation services (at least monthly)

**Key accountabilities**:

- Full participation in on call roster
- Supervision and teaching of junior medical staff
- Weekly outpatient clinic
- Willingness to develop consulting service in a regional centre within HNELHD
