Australia’s $3.4 trillion superannuation industry is facing into a shifting landscape influenced by increased regulatory pressures, disruptive technologies, changes in demographics and ever-changing member expectations. It is critical that we understand and address these forces of change and are also able to adapt at a faster pace to respond to new challenges and capitalise on new opportunities.
Reporting to the Principal, Liquidity & Implementation Risk, this role supports the management and oversight of the end-to-end control environment across the Liquidity & Implementation (L&I) department in Investments. The role will also assist in financial risk management such as Liquidity, Market and Counterparty risk for L&I.
**Your new role**
The Manager will be responsible for supporting the delivery of first line activities across L&I, with a particular focus on the department’s trading in listed and OTC markets. Key responsibilities include the following:
1. Implementing the Risk Framework for Liquidity & Implementation
- Assisting in the development and implementation of L&I’s operational risk strategy, risk framework and implementation.
- Providing clear and comprehensive senior level engagement and communication of key L&I operational risk matters to relevant parties.
- Enhancing the operating environment of L&I by migrating off-platform process to core systems (such as Aladdin). Ensure specific risk areas (i.e. remediation of incident findings) are appropriately integrated with the overall delivery of the risk framework for L&I.
- Appropriately escalating issues and incidents as they occur within L&I.
- Contributing to appropriate risk reporting/dashboards for L&I and to feed into committee meetings.
- Facilitating L&I control testing with the Central Risk Team.
- Developing processes and procedures for key L&I functions.
2. Advisory and Support
- Using Subject Matter Expertise in Front Office and L&I activities to help identify and reduce operational risk.
- Supporting and assisting the Principal in the delivery of the risk and control plan for the Department.
- Supporting junior members of the team in risk practices and oversee continual improvement in their technical knowledge.
- Representing L&I on projects that impact L&I to assess the impact and risk of the change.
- Engaging with internal and external auditors as they conduct their audit testing and validate that audit findings are implemented appropriately by the L&I department.
3. Business Unit Partner Relationship
- Providing relevant and timely risk reporting with specific data analysis and insights on risk profiles within L&I.
- Ensuring specific risk areas for L&I are appropriately reviewed, managed, monitored, and integrated with the overall delivery of the risk framework and recorded within the GRC system.
- Facilitating root cause analysis relating to L&I incidents to identify control weaknesses.
- Identifying systemic issues and events resulting from unidentified risks that may impact the business unit.
