Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has bed base of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

**What you'll be doing**
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the District Manager in carrying out and maintaining the operation of the Sterilisation Services Department by providing leadership and operational management to staff.
To support day to day workflow and challenges whilst providing direction to staff and effectively managing operational and workforce issues to ensure continuous effective service delivery.
To practice, adhere to and keep up to date with the standards of the Sterilisation Services Department and ISLHD whilst demonstrating a high standard of professional ethics aligning with the NSW Health Code of Conduct and CORE Values.

**Talent Pool**

This role is a **Category A **role. Preferred applicants will be reviewed for compliance and required to maintain compliance with the screening, assessment and vaccination requirements, relevant to your position, as outlined in NSW Health policy directive on Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases.
**Selection Criteria**:
- A completed Certificate III in Sterilisation Services and demonstrated sound knowledge of AS/NZS 4187 and Infection Prevention and Control principles, or equivalent experience.
- A completed Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or enrolled and willing to obtain, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience in a Sterilisation Services Department in an acute hospital setting.
- Demonstrated organisational and leadership skills with the ability to manage and lead teams effectively.
- Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills and experience in computer information systems
- Demonstrate problem solving, conflict management and negotiation skills to ensure service levels and standards are achieved and maintained
- Demonstrate experience in managing staff within a complex environment that includes workload, roster creations and allocations, HR, development and supervision.
- Demonstrate experience in development or implementation of policies and procedures.
