u&u Recruitment Partners is again excited to partner exclusively with Diabetes Australia who are seeking a new General Counsel & Company Secretary.
Diabetes Australia is a Group of For Purpose organisations, registered with the ACNC, that is committed to improving the lives of people living with, and at risk of developing, diabetes. With close to 360 staff members, DA is represented in Queensland, NSW, Tasmania and the ACT and works to reduce the impact of diagnosis on families, communities and governments.
As an experienced General Counsel & Company Secretary, you will help lead the organisation across a broad range of corporate governance, legal, risk and compliance matters. Sitting on the Executive team, you will work in close collaboration with the new Chair, Group CEO, Group Executives and Senior Leaders to centralise legal functions; review existing processes and improve overall efficiencies across legal and governance.
The role will be responsible for drafting, reviewing and negotiating major contracts with service providers; providing legal review and advice regarding research trust and unified organisation requirements; preparing tender responses and reviewing critical third party arrangements. In addition, as Company Secretary, you will provide support to the Board and subcommittees and assist with preparing agendas, Minutes and terms of reference. Interstate travel will be required for Board meetings.
