**Your Opportunity**

Due to growth in our core economic and social infrastructure markets across Australia, our Strategic Advisory business is looking for an experienced** Principal Infrastructure Economist **to join our national Infrastructure Investment Decisions team to work on a broad range of projects Australia-wide. We work for public sector clients including transportation, health, education and environmental agencies, along with private clients in the energy, utilities and transport sectors.

Working in partnership with our clients in our national team, you will be a part of city and nation-shaping investment programs with a particular focus on decarbonising our economy and achieving net zero targets.
- Lead the preparation of economic appraisals including cost-benefit analysis
- Lead the collation, interpretation and manipulation of complex data sets, such as transport modelling data
- Lead the development of business cases for infrastructure and place-based projects
- Develop documents for investment assurance
- Assist in the business development and work winning effort including maintaining client relationships and proposal leadership

Examples of economic appraisals include: zero emissions buses; package of new or upgraded schools; optimal capital maintenance funding for cultural institutions such as art galleries; and new hospital developments.

**Key Skills and qualifications**:
To be successful in this position it is anticipated that you will possess the following skills and experience and can showcase them throughout your career history.
- 12 - 15+ years infrastructure advisory experience in a Tier 1 consulting, strategy, or advisory firm.
- Degree qualified in either commerce, economics, or finance. Post-graduate studies are highly regarded.
- Strong economic and financial modelling skills.
- Strong report writing and presentation skills
- Familiarity with Infrastructure Australia’s Assessment Framework.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and delivering successful project bid documents.
- Good work ethic, team player and excellent client interfacing and relationship building skills.
- Ability to negotiate and influence positive client outcomes.
- Capacity to identify and build business opportunities.
- Experience in preparing economic models and incorporating complex inputs (e.g., traffic / public transport demand modelling using ATAP guidelines; school enrollment predictions/population projections).
- Experience with climate change/net zero related economics - for example carrying out cost benefit analysis using different carbon values or addressing embodied carbon within infrastructure business cases - is highly regarded.
- Relevant experience with Treasury or project development / investment assurance roles in Government departments.
- Experience with social infrastructure (schools, health, arts/culture) is highly regarded.
