What will you do?

This is an exciting opportunity for a Hydrology & Flooding engineer to join our NSW Hydrology & Flooding Team in Sydney/Newcastle.

This will be a start of exploring more growth with a world-class company and various types and scales of projects within but not limited to NSW and ACT.

On a day-to-day basis, you will tackle the delivery of flood assessment on major Transport/Land/Water infrastructure/Dams/Energy projects across NSW/ACT. You will collaborate across disciplines internally and externally with clients and public authorities to address technical queries and drive an optimum engineering solution.

As a Hydrology & Flooding engineer in the NSW Hydrology & Flooding team (Sydney/Newcastle), you will join as a key member that adds to the diversity of thought, skills, and experience of the group. We know the work we do is vital in assisting our region's sustainable economic development and, it's the technical expertise and the depth of knowledge of our people that really sets us apart. In this role, you will 'Bring Ideas to Life' for Aurecon and our clients.

The role

Due to recent project wins in the Transport, Water Resources, Energy and Advisory Markets we are growing our team. In this position, you will play an integral part in an ANZ team of highly skilled flooding specialists that 'bring ideas to life' for our clients.

In this role, you will conduct hydrological and hydraulic investigations and design for a wide range of projects through collaboration with other transport (road and rail), drainage, land development, dams, water resources advisory, and energy teams.

What we are looking for:

- Bachelor or Masters' level degree in civil or environmental engineering and tertiary qualification
- 2-5 years of experience in the flooding industry
- Proficiency in TUFLOW, RORB, WBNM, and XP-RAFTS required
- Proficiency in GIS software such as QGIS, ArcGIS or MapInfo
- Ability to analyse, interpret and communicate information and modelling results
- Strong understanding of Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR) 2019
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively at an internal level
- Ability to deliver the flood modelling tasks on time within the budget, time frame and high quality

We value the difference each team member brings and we look for people who have had a broad range of experiences and a growth and learning mindset.

Our Aurecon Attributes describe the types of people we bring together for clients. We don't expect you to have all eight of the attributes, but one that is unique to you.

Who is Aurecon?

Aurecon's strength has always been our people. It's our people who build our shared purpose and bring ideas to life. It's our people who imagine and co-create with our clients a better future for people and the planet. Of course, you'll probably know lots of our award-winning projects. The new Allianz Stadium in Sydney? That was us. Tāmaki Regeneration in Auckland? That was us too. And the Tseung Kwan O Interchange in Hong Kong? You guessed it, us.
