You will be liaising with internal and external Stakeholders, undertaking flood studies and flood risk management plans in accordance to NSW Flood Policy. ABOUT THE POSITION This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and innovate in flood modelling and flood risk management within a dynamic and supportive Local Government team. As a Senior Flood Modelling Specialist, you will play a key part in delivering impactful projects that enhance community resilience, working closely with diverse stakeholders. The position provides a blend of technical challenge, professional growth, and the chance to contribute meaningfully to sustainable development and public safety. DUTIES - Lead hydrologic and hydraulic modelling (e.g., TUFLOW) for flood studies and capital works. - Provide expert advice on flood modelling methodologies and interpret results. - Support Floodplain Risk Management Studies and Plans, including scenario testing. - Prepare technical maps, figures, and documentation for stakeholders. - Review flood impact assessments for development applications and advise accordingly. - Mentor and train staff to build internal modelling capability. - Communicate technical findings to the community and stakeholders. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE - Proven experience in flood modelling (e.g., TUFLOW) and flood risk management - Strong knowledge of ARR2019 and NSW Flood Risk Management Manual - Ability to interpret and clearly communicate complex technical data - Excellent problem-solving, project management, and teamwork skills - Civil Engineering degree or similar and Class C Driver’s Licence CULTURE Expand on your skills and experience within this diverse and driven team.
