**Introduction**:
**About the role**:
We are currently seeking an experienced Community Development Officer (CDO) to play a key role in engaging, supporting and empowering individuals and families in the Belconnen community to develop and implement their own initiatives that align with local needs and interests and build community capacity. For example, reduce crime, provide socials supports for minority communities, and engage hard-to-reach groups. Working with community members, organisations, and CRCS teams, the CDO proactively collects and evaluates data, identifying patterns, trends, gaps and areas of needs. The position focuses on the Belconnen region, working with both the broader community and smaller groups based on shared location, demographics, interests and values.
This position is a full time fixed term position till 30 June 2026.
**Main duties and responsibilities**:
Engagement and collaboration with wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Research, collect and analyse quality data to make informed recommendations and work plans.
Promotions and organising events
Innovation initiatives, review and reporting to CRCS management, government and partners.
Funding and administration opportunities to contribute to existing or develop new initiatives and manages own administration of position.
Community and interagency relations through networks, and attendance of working groups and community events representing CRCS and Belconnen community.
**Qualifications and experience**:
**Essential**: Relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive experience in community development.
**Desirable**: Knowledge of health promotion, social planning or related disciplines, Current first aid certificate, mental health first aid training. Knowledge of CRCS, the capital region and local community groups.
**Other requirements**:
CRCS employees must hold a satisfactory Working with Vulnerable People registration and have this with them at all times whilst employed by CRCS.
CRCS employees are required to undertake a National Criminal History Clearance by CRCS prior to commencing and every three years thereafter as a condition of employment. Employees are required to advise CRCS of any convictions that may affect their eligibility to work or performing the inherent requirements of their position.
Current Driver’s Licence and access to a registered, comprehensively insured motor vehicle for work related purposes.
CRCS may require the incumbent to undertake employment screening such as a medical assessment, functional assessment or psychological profile prior to an offer of employment and/or as determined by CRCS during employment
